Rs 2-crore Porsche 911 turbo in India by May

The Indian luxury car buyer will have lot of options to choose from in the coming year. Almost every big brand is entering the country and wants a piece of the lucrative market.

The latest in the category is luxury sports car maker Porsche. The car maker has made public its keen interest to enhance its portfolio in the Indian market.

As a step in that direction Porsche would be introducing its latest offering, the 911 series during this year.

People can take a closer look at the 911 Turbo S and 911 Turbo S Cabriolet at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year.

The Porsche 911 Turbo S is designed to be a notch above the 911 Turbo model. It is claimed to provide lots of power, good performance and great driving dynamics.

The 911 Turbo S is what it is because of its six-cylinder boxer boosted by two exhaust gas turbochargers with variable turbine geometry, with an increase in power over the 911 Turbo with 530 bhp (390 kW). The car’s 700 Nm maximum torque (516 lb-ft) is best in its class.

But with so much power and performance packed in the 911 Turbo S, it is expected to be priced at Rs 1.87 crore (ex-showroom, New Delhi) and the approximately Rs 1.90 crore in the rest of the country.

While 911 Turbo S Cabriolet would cost almost Rs 2 crore (Rs 20 million) in Delhi and about Rs 2.04 crore (Rs 20.4 million) elsewhere in India.

The 911 Turbo costs an estimated Rs 1.59 crore (Rs 16 million). According to a company official, “The models can be ordered (in India) today but worldwide deliveries will begin in May.”

Features

The 911 Turbo S is a highly advanced machine with a seven-speed Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management all-wheel drive.

The advanced equipments coming that the car has include dynamic bending lights, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with gearshift paddles, 19-inch wheels in RS Spyder design with central locking, cruise control, a CD/DVD changer, adaptive sports seats and exclusive twin-tone leather upholstery.

The 911 Turbo S has the capacity to accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 3.3 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in 10.8 seconds and its top speed is 315 km/h or 195 mph.

The car comes with extra-light and fading-resistant Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes that help in the controlled application of the brakes.

Fuel efficiency

The new 911 Turbo S has a relatively better fuel consumption than other competing cars in this segment.

Even though there has been a significant increase in power and dynamic performance, at approx 8.8kmpl the 911 Turbo S does not consume any more fuel than the Porsche 911 Turbo.

This makes it the most efficient sports car in its class.
